FACE FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT - DEC 2018

It gives me great pleasure to present FACE Foundation review for the year 2018.
FACE Foundation started the year 2018 by responding to a natural disaster that occurred towards the end of the previous year, the tragic earthquake in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah. As a result, the town of Sareh-e Poleh Zahab was 95%, if not completely, destroyed. This had left 1,000s of people living without shelter day and night after losing their homes and belongings.
FACE Foundation responded by sending much needed aid relief to an area covering hundreds of villages most impacted. The relief aid consisted of tens of tons of flour which is the most essential daily nutrient for the victims. Due to the high volume of the relief aid, the distribution work was conducted in 3 phases, starting in December 2017 and completing by June 2018. Over 1,000 families in 100 villages were reached and helped. At the same time, in parallel with the on-going relief aid, FACE Foundation initiated another project, construction of a residential complex consisting of 12 prefab Connex homes for families most in need. In addition to these homes, they were provided with hot water, electricity, cooking and washing facilities and sanitation services. In total we managed to accommodate up to 56 people including children, who were otherwise without proper shelter.
This year we have also taken 2 further care centres under our wings. Hakim rehabilitation centre for the disabled, situated in Karaj, and Neda-y-Mehr Institute in Boshehr. This brings our support total to over 720 orphans, mentally and physically disabled children, that are now in receipt of our medical aid on a continuous basis.
We have also increased our educational support to more school children in 2018. In total over 1,100 school children aged 5 to 11 are now receiving educational help. This includes clothing, school fees, free snacks, uniforms and all the learning materials required by them throughout the year. More than anything else, we are very proud to announce that the number of families in need that are receiving monthly food packages has grown by 40% in 2018. This means that over 450 destitute people living in absolute poverty are in receipt of food packages. FACE Foundation is planning to increase this number to over 1,000 from January 2019.
2018 has been a very successful year in terms of fundraising activities and charitable donations… we successfully exceeded our expectations and managed to beat our target for the year by an incredible 22%.
FACE Foundation is extremely proud to announce that as planned we have partnered with Plan International UK Charity this year. With a donation of £5,000 from FACE Foundation, supplemented by a further £15,000 from the EU, we support and provide 350 children aged 4-11 with all educational and learning needs and school materials together with most importantly safe environments for a total of 4 years, transforming their lives for ever. Progress report on this project is available under "PHILANTHROPY" menu.
We plan to continue and further expand our humanitarian activities in the forthcoming years by attracting additional sponsors, improved fundraising initiatives and better working strategies. Let us Remember, one of the core values of this organisation that makes us very proud is total and 100% transparency, with every single contributor working in their own time on a voluntary basis with no financial gain. This allows for every penny of funds raised to go directly towards good causes that have been carefully verified as bona fide cases. FACE Foundation’s first set of annual financial accounts for the financial year 2017/2018 as a registered charity in England and Wales has also been published.
I like to say a huge thank you to all our trustees, contributors and sponsors for their kind generosity and commitment enabling us to help 1,000s of destitute families and children in need.
